He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved 赛40:20穷乏献不起这样供物的、就拣选不能朽坏的树木、为自己寻找巧匠、立起不能摇动的偶像。
So these nations feared the lord ， and served their graven images ， both their children ， and their children's children ： as did their fathers ， so do they unto this day 41如此这些民又惧怕耶和华，又事奉他们的偶像。他们子子孙孙也都照样行，效法他们的祖宗，直到今日。

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations : they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save 赛45:20你们从列国逃脱的人、要一同聚集前来那些抬著雕刻木偶、祷告不能救人之神的、毫无知识。
Those who fashion a graven image are all of them futile, and their precious things are of no profit; even their own witnesses fail to see or know, so that they will be put to shame 赛44:9制造雕刻偶像的、尽都虚空他们所喜悦的、都无益处他们的见证、无所看见、无所知晓、他们便觉羞愧。
They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed 赛44:9制造雕刻偶像的、尽都虚空他们所喜悦的、都无益处他们的见证、无所看见、无所知晓、他们便觉羞愧。
